Mangalore, Jun 17: For the first time in Dakshina Kannada an over the counter service (OTCS) will be introduced on an experimental basis to provide income and caste certificate. With the introduction of the OTSC the applicant will be able to get the certificates as soon an application is submitted. In the present system, the applicants have to wait for about ten days to obtain certificates.
Addressing media persons on Monday June 15 Deputy Commissioner (DC) V Ponnuraj said that preparation in this regard began about two years ago in Beltangady and Sullia taluks in the district. The income and caste certificates will be made available through Nemmadi centres. The complete details of the families holding APL and BPL cards in both these taluks have been computerized. Once an application is submitted, the certificate one has applied for is made available immediately with digitized signature of the official concerned, said Ponnuraj.
Clarifying that OTCS is limited only for the issuance of income and caste certificate, Ponnuraj said that once in every five years income proof will be reviewed and hence certificate will be valid up to five years. During this period no application from existing income certificate holders will be entertained, he added.
