Panaji, Aug 3: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday informed that there has been zero death of rabies in the state. He also advised people about the importance of getting anti-rabies vaccination after suffering bites from animals like cats and dogs. The anti-vaccine is available in all government hospitals in the state, Sawant said.
Advising people to stay away from traditional remedies for animal bites, Sawant said, “When bitten by a cat or dog, a person should go to a government hospital and take the vaccination.”
Health minister Vishwajit Rane said, "Anti-rabies vaccines are made available to all primary health centres and a minimum inventory of this medicine is maintained by the government in its health clinics. He also added that sometimes shortage is cropped due to supply and that hospitals have been instructed to purchase anti-rabies vaccine from the open market.
