Kundapur, Jun 9: Relating to the theft of Kedoor branch of Koteshwara Agricultural Service Cooperative Bank in the taluk on September 23, 2005, the policemen have arrested an accused and recovered gold ornaments weighing around 78 grams from him.
The policemen had secured the custody of Dharma alias Bheemappa (29) from Asange village of Badami taluk of Bagalkot district, who an under-trial prisoner relating to a case pertaining to Panambur police station in Mangalore. After getting his custody on June 3 2009, they interrogated him upon which he reportedly confessed to the said theft. He also showed some of the ornaments concealed by him in a house in Korikatti of Meenakaliya Mangalore. The value of the gold ornaments now recovered is around Rs 85,000. The policemen are on the look out for Durgappa, the other accused in the theft case.
Sanjeev Naik (29), who was arrested in connection with the robbery of Kambadakone Farmers Service Cooperative Bank recently, is the main accused in this case too. A gang of eight to ten people had arrived from the back, gagged the watchman Bacchaiah Shetty, entered the bank and carried the locker containing gold ornaments and cash. The Bank had said in its complaint filed with Kota police station that cash amounting to Rs 63,000 and gold ornaments worth Rs 25 lac had been taken away by the thieves.
