Sullia, Jun 5: Reflecting the rising popularity of Subrahmanya Temple, a pilgrimage centre that has attracted people from even north Indian states, the monthly collection in the donation box of the temple for the month of May touched over one crore rupees, which is a record in itself. This information was given by temple managing committee president T V Bhat. The collection in donation boxes was counted on Wednesday June 3.
The number of visitors to the temple had swelled during the months of April and May, because of holiday season. On an average, over 10,000 devotees had food at the temple during these months every day. The total collection amounted to Rs 1,11,73,899.50. In addition, 629 grams of gold and 27.35 kg of silver were offered by the devotees to the Lord through the donation boxes, Bhat revealed.
