Gadag, Jun 4: Parliamentary secretary to the Chief Minister C C Patil said, frequent transfers of deputy commissioners (DC) and other officers is a common feature about which they should not be bothered. "At a time when even the chief ministers keep changing once a few months, how can the transfer of officials be that serious," he questioned.
Speaking after accepting petitions from people at the local taluk panchayat on Wednesday, Patil said, that the government has been laying stress on the transfer of officials solely with the criteria of achieving maximum development. "The local deputy commissioner Subodh Yadav was transferred for this very reason," he claimed.
At the same time, he admitted to the fact that a bitter stand off had taken place between himself and Subodh Yadav during the Lakkundi festival. "He has been transferred by the government. Those who are work-oriented are ready to work anywhere anytime. Who knows, the coming deputy commissioner might be better than the previous one," he commented.
He agreed that differences of opinion exist in the party. By referring to the changing of chief minsterhip frequently, he seems to have indirectly hinted that efforts to unseat the chief minister are on.
Speaking later to reporters, he gave indications about some possible changes in the government, by saying that a new kind of food is being cooked at the government level, which would be brought out soon. "During cooking, the fire lets out smoke. But in spite of whatever changes the government might undergo, BJP will continue to be in power," he clarified, without wishing to elaborate what he wanted to say, other than that new experiments are set to be made to give good governance. He refused to answer as to which group he owes his allegiance to.
