Mangalore: Distribution of Bhramashree Gold Medals and School Certificates

Mangalore, Jun 3: Education is the only solution with which you can solve the problems of either of the community or of the nation. Shree Narayanaguru in his preachings, repeatedly used to mention about the importance of education, by repeating that 'educate you will be free, organize, you will be strong' . And now the youth organization, Narayanaguru Yuva Vedike is working for this cause. These valuable words came from Kanyadi Sri Sri Brahmhananda Saraswathi Swamiji who was the chief guest at the function conducted by Narayana Guru Yuva Vedhike' Mangalore at Raveendra KalaBhavana , University College,Mangalore on 24.05-2009. He also blessed all the 34 students who scored more than 90% in their SSLC examination held in the month of April 2009. The Brahmashree Gold medal meant for the student who scores highest in SSLC exam was presented to Janaki Kunder of Vamanjoor. She scored 97.44 % in her SSLC exams. Janaki belongs to a very poor family, whose parents are unskilled workers, doing work as as cooly and beedi rolling. All the other 33 students received silver medal and appreciation certificates along with the scholarship( for the deserved ones).
Dr Prem Kotian, famous orthopaedician of South Karnataka and a professor in Kasturba Medical College,Mangalore inaugurated the function and asked the children to utilize the benefits given by this type or service organizations to promote their education. Dr Sadananda Perla, Sr. Publicity officer of Akashavani Gulbarga ,Kiran Kumar,Industrialist, Sampoornavathiamma whose son Ratheendranath is the sponsor of golden medal, Chandrahas Kadambar and DD Kattemar were on the dias. Famous dancer and child artist Baby Rashmi Kunder was honoured by MLC Kota Sreenivasa Poojary, who expressed his gratitude for the commendable work done by Narayana guru yuva Vedhike . He requested the people to support Narayana guru Yuva Vedhike for the initiative they are taking for the education of the poor people. By keeping a main goal as 'spreading awareness through education', the Vedhike is doing commendable work by adopting 300 poor children every year. School facilities like books, school bag, umbrella and uniform are being distributed free of cost to around 300 poor children of different Samithis of narayana guru yuva Vedhike. The Vedhike has been conducting this programme for the last six years.
M S Kotian , convenor of the programme and the advisory director of the Vedhike and professor at KMC Mangalore, welcomed the gathering and compered the programme. Neelaya M Agari briefed about Narayana guru Yuva Vedhike and Brijesh Anchan gave vote of thanks.
