Mangalore: Transaction in Banks Crosses Rs. 20,120 cr

Mangalore, May 31 (The Hindu): Banks in Dakshina Kannada district have transacted business of Rs. 20,120 crore up to March 2009, said K.U. Shanbhag, General Manager of Syndicate Bank, which is the lead bank in Dakshina Kannada. Stating this at the district consultative committee meeting for banking development here on Wednesday he said there were 393 bank branches in the district.

The total deposits at banks at the end of March stood at Rs. 12,756 crore and they advanced Rs. 7,364 crore. The deposits went up by 22 per cent and advances by 10 per cent in 2008-2009. P. Shivashankar, Chief Executive Officer, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, spoke.
