Sullia, May 27: "The Brahmin community, an important constituent of the Hindu society, should shoulder the responsibility of leading the Hindu society on the right path. Imparting moral and spiritual education to the children is the need of the hour," said Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Udupi Pejawar Mutt. He was delivering benedictory address after inaugurating the upper storey of Brahmin Students’ Hostel being run under the aegis of Sullia Taluk Brahmin Sangh.
He called upon the members of the Brahmin community to get Vedic education in addition to the worldly one. As the Lord is present in every one, every individual should be respected and loved, he urged them.
Paleppady Ganapaiah, honorary president of the Sangh, presided. He detailed the path the students’ hostel has grown since it was started.
Dakshina Kannada district Sahirya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura in his address, asked the Brahmins who have achieved high positions in the society, not to neither dither nor feel ashamed in the matter of identifying themselves as Brahmins.
Sangh president Jayant Kedilaya and joint secretary Krishna Navada were present at the dais. On the occasion, students from the taluk, who have excelled in SSLC and PUC examinations, were felicitated.
Treasurer Bayambu Bhaskar Rao welcomed. Secretary Ganesh Sharma proposed vote of thanks. A M Bhat and Parameshwar Holla presented the programme.
