Udupi, May 27: District superintendent of police Pravin Pawar informed, that a man named Pramod Raikar from Ankola has been arrested in connection with the robbery that took place at Kedoor branch of Koteshwar Agricultural Service Cooperative Bank in the district in September 2005, and gold ornaments weighting 700 grams, valued approximately at nine lac rupees, have been recovered from him. He was addressing the media men here on Tuesday May 26.
In this case too, Sanjeev Naik, the main accused in the robbery of Kambadakone Agricultural Service Cooperative Bank, is the main accused; His accomplices Gopal Shirawad (29), Lakshman Shirawad (22), Durga alias Durgappa and Dharma helped him in this robbery. The accused sold the ornaments to Pramod Raikar and bought two trucks, a Tata Sumo vehicle and a Tata Indica car. These vehicles have been seized, he explained.
Pramod Raikar was arrested from Ankola on May 24. He has been remanded to judicial custody. Sanjeev Naik, Gopal and Lakshaman are already in custody relating to Kambadakone robbery. Durga, who was with Sanjeev Naik at the time Naik was nabbed, had succeeded in running away.
Byndoor circle inspector of police Kantaraju is investigating the Kambadakone robbery case, while Brahmavar circle police inspector Krishnamurthy is in charge of Kedoor Bank theft.
