Kundapur, Jul 8: Nowadays most of the people tend to go on a world tour or take a motorbike and reach their favorite destinations just for fun. But Dr Nityananda Adiga, the chief priest of Coastal Karnataka’s very popular Kollur Mookambika temple, completed 10,500 km journey, covering three countries, by road on his own Harley Davidson motorbike.
It is common to go on bike ride all over the world for leisure or as a personal achievement. But this man has taken this ride for the noble cause of creating awareness among the people on the “scarcity of water” which has been a major problem in the present days. Throughout his ride, he has tried his best to spread and create the awareness about scarcity of water in places wherever he has visited and with people, whoever he met on the way.
Nityananda Adiga says, “Whatever we do in our life, there must be some good and meaningful intentions, which make our life even better. Nityananda did his primary education in Kollur and completed MBA and got a PhD in Kriya Tattva Vaarida. At present, he is serving as the chief priest in Kollur temple, following their family heritage.
As other youths, Nityananda too had craze for motorbikes. Since childhood, spending most of his time in Kollur, he has now found many changes around him. His village is different from what it was few years ago. There is no water flowing in the rivulet except during the monsoon. Numer of trees are declining year by year. Lack of water has affected cultivation. Out of concern on water scarcity and in support of agricultural work, Nityananda Adiga decided to create awareness among people on the judicial use of water.
Nityananda Adiga started his journey on May 29, 2019 from Keller temple on his Harley Davidson motorbike and covered three countries. He travelled all over India from South to North. Apart from India, he travelled to Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh and spread his message. On his way people got fascinated by his bike and spoke to him asking about the bike. Conversely Nityananda Adiga created awareness about scarcity of water among them.
During his journey, Nityananda Adiga met many people. Some village people welcomed him with warm heart. Being a vegetarian, sometimes he had to cope up with food habits of some places, which made him to eat only vegetables and fruits. On the course of his journey, he had to face unpleasant weather conditions.
Nevertheless, Nityananda was completely focused on his goal and no barriers stopped him. Exercising yoga two times a day on his trip, nothing seemed tough for Adiga. He had all the necessary items to be carried on his Harley Davidson motorbike, for his badass trip. Before a month and a half, Adiga began his preparation to this willful trip.
After successfully completing 17 days of road trip, Adiga came back to his hometown of Kollur on June 16, 2019. Friends and family, who were concerned about his solo trip to three countries, welcomed him whole-heartedly after his return. Along with his family and friends, the entire village welcomed him with garland and by firing the crackers.
This was not only his trip holding the awareness programme. One and half years ago, he made a road trip with the same message. All these road trips were made by Nityananda Adiga all alone, in order to convey his message and spread the awareness of water scarcity. “Nature is my inspiration,” says Nityananda Adiga. Reducing the problem of water scarcity through his awareness programs is his only focus. Thus, ongoing with the same intention and message will be his next vision of adventure.
