Three Indian Boxers in World Junior Meet Quarters

New Delhi, May 26: Three Indian boxers moved to the quarter-finals of World Junior boxing championships in Yerevan, Armenia Monday.

In the 46 kg pin-weight category, Sandeep outpunched Lithuanian Kestutis Pukas 11-0 before the referee stopped the contest in the second round.

Sandeep will face Belarussian Aliaksei Hohleu, who defeated Hungary's Zoltan Szeirtes 11-1 in another pre-quarterfinal contest.

In the 48 kg light-flyweight category, Gaurav Bhiduri put up a dominating display, beating Freddie Ortiz of Puerto Rico 7-2. The Indian set-up a clash with Kazakhstan's Bagdat Uaidayev, who knocked out Alexandros Tsanikidis of Greece.

Namit Bahadur, though, had to fight hard to overpower Viktor Barak of Israel 5-0 in 50 kg flyweight category.

Namit will meet Turkey's Bulut Haykir, who thrashed Bulgaria's Orhan Hyuseinov 25-3.
