Mysuru, Jun 27: Due to the blunder committed by the staff of the dialysis centre being run at the government hospital in Krishnarajanagara in the district, about 32 people have been made to suffer from Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection.
A few days back, a person having this infection had undergone dialysis at this hospital. It is said that the staff, without sanitizing the equipment as per procedure, continued to administered dialysis procedure to several others. As a result, over 32 people suffered from HCV infection. Worried by this development, relatives of the patient held protest opposite the hospital on Wednesday June 26.
A patient named Chandra, who had visited the hospital on June 24, died of this viral infection in the hospital. The staff, who turned panicky, conveyed information to all the HCV patients the same night that they were inflected because of the blunder of the hospital staff. They also advised the patients to get themselves treated elsewhere.
The relatives and patients took the staff to task as to why they were not informed so far about this infection as the infection would have aggravated during the period. They also questioned the staff why they did not inform them immediately.
