Tumkur, Jun 23: KN Ravi, a shopkeeper in Tovinakere of Korategere taluk in the district was in for a shock when he received a notice for hoisting BJP flag in front of his shop, through which Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) of Karnataka, Dr G Parameshwar was passing by.
The PDO of the local gram panchayat served the notice to Ravi and has instructed him to immediately remove the flag.
DCM Dr Parameshwar had come to Tovinakere on Saturday, June 22 to take part in a people contact programme. His entourage passed through Ravi's grocery shop which is located at Kestoor Raod of the city. It is learnt that the DCM was embarrassed to see the BJP flag in front of the shop and allegedly passed on instructions to have it removed.
The notice says that the flag should be removed as it is hoisted without the permission of the gram panchayat. However, the Congress workers had asked the owner not to hoist the flag in the route in which the DCM was travelling and asked him to remove the same. They said Ravi can hoist the flag again after DCM leaves the place after the programme.
