Panaji, Jun 16: In a firm decision, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) on Friday restarted pay parking in the city. The CCP has decided to begin the process with 18th June Road and Atmaram Borkar Road.

As per TOI report, City mayor Uday Madkaikar said four-wheelers would be charged Rs 20 for the first two hours and Rs 10 for every subsequent hour for parking on these two busy roads. Two-wheelers will be charged Rs 5 for the first four hours and Rs 2 for every additional hour.

"The corporation will be more careful this time and will ensure that the contractor deposits a bank guarantee so there is no loss to the exchequer. Fighting cases in court is not finally good for the corporation,” CCP commissioner Shashank Tripathi said, as per TOI report.

Increasing complaints from corporators about the congested roads and haphazard parking have made the CCP to take a decision to enforce the no parking zones in the city once the casino vehicles moved to the multi-level parking complex.
