Margao, May 8: Referring to reports appeared in the media recently, PWD has clarified that the cracks found on the Zuari bridge, linking North and South Goa, will have no effect, whatsoever, on the structural safety of the bridge.
Meanwhile while stressing the need of a parallel bridge here, PWD minister Churchil Alemao has said that if central government immediately cannot construnt the parallel bridge here then it should give permission to the state.
According to Public Works Department, the crack is on the deck of the bridge and it has occurred in the bituminous wearing coat due to wear and tear.
PWD officials further said that the surface cracks are being developed on wearing surface, which are being sealed from time to time by the Public Works Department and presently it has already initiated measures to seal the cracks.
