Mangaluru, Jun 12: President of Dakshina Kannada Muslim Union, Ashraf, said that his organization will extend support if the state or central government passes cow slaughter ban law.
Addressing a press conference in the city on Tuesday, June 11, Ashraf stressed that consumption of beef is not a compulsory food item for Muslim. He also said that the Muslims are against illegal cattle transportation and sale of beef.
"We will request religious leaders to issue Fatwa banning illegal transportation of cattle in the interests of communal harmony. In the entire Dakshina Kannada district, officially recognized slaughterhouse operates only at Kudroli in the city. As such, it is possible for unauthorized cattle transportation to keep happening. For this purpose, authorized slaughterhouses should be allowed to function in every taluk. If this happens, in all likelihood, slaughter of animals will happen strictly as per law," he explained.
Mambers of the union, C M Mustafa, Muhamjmed Haneef, Sidduque Talpady, Abdul Jaleel, V HKarim, Ahmed Bava Baljal, and Mhammed Ashraf Badriya were present.
