Bengaluru, Jun 12: A suicide which ignited a riot and mob violence has made news. In the village of Srinivaspur in Sadarhalli in Ramanagara, a scorned lover has been charged with abetment to suicide of a newlywed couple.

The incident took place on Monday, June 10. The couple has been identified as Lokesh (30) and Kausalya (25). Lokesh was a farmer by profession and Kausalya was a homemaker.

Further inquiry into the case led the police officials to believe that Kausalya was in a relationship with the accused. It has been found that the once former lovers were to marry each other. But, Kausalya's parents got her married to Lokesh. The accused has been identified as Thyagesh, 35, also a resident of Srinivasapur.

Kausalya

According to the police, the couple was married six months ago and since then Kausalya was stalked by Thyagesh.

Earlier the day of the suicide, Thyagesh forwarded few images to Lokesh's Whatsapp. He later also claimed to have circulated to his friends. The pictures were intimate moments between Thyagesh and Kausalya.

Aftermath of the suicide

Soon after, the news of the suicide and the cause for the same was learnt. The villagers then wreaked havoc, they set fire to the house of the accused and also pelted his family with stones.

Akkur police had to seek extra reinforcement from the Karnataka State Reserve Police force to control the mob.

“We asked for reinforcement and soon after it arrived, the crowd dispersed and law and order was restored,” a police official said.

After the registering case against Thyagesh for abetment to suicide, the police also registered case against the villagers who resorted to violence.

I do not have any issue with Gandharva Vivaha. My view is that we Indians blame west for all the reasons when the Gandharva Vivaha is mentioned in Rig Veda!! Why this hypocrisy? This is what I do not like

It's totally mistake of Thygaesh is looks like maniac. If he really loved kaushlya never ever thought to hurt her and left her alone. Did not thygesh get married upto 35. He shattered dreams of newly wedded couple.
