Bengaluru: Discarded by friends, neglected by Congress, Jarkiholi left high and dry

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 10: Gokak MLA, Ramesh Jarkiholi, who had threatened to rock the state government by putting together a group of his loyal legislators, has been left alone in his fight. The Congress and JD(S) leaders have convinced disgruntled leaders who were identified with Jarkiholi not to stage a revolt. The Congress leaders, sensing that Ramesh is not amenable to any kind of appeasement tactics, have ignored him and therefore concentrated on his followers. As such, his followers have fallen out with him, and Ramesh appears to be alone and helpless now.

The BJP too is not much interested as Jarkiholi has lost his supporters and the party is not in a position to form alternative government at this moment. Athani MLA, Mahesh Kumthalli, continues to be with Jarkiholi. But it is said he is not interested in leaving the party.

Jarkiholi had said sometime back that he has a group of followers and that the entire group will resign en masse, adding that he would not be resigning alone. Some of his followers were lured by offering posts in corporations and boards by the Congress leadership. Ramesh, who was dropped from the ministry, has not accepted the offer of ministerial position made by Kumaraswamy. Now he seems to have lost his steam.

These are chameleons ,power thirsty, opportunistic pathogens who have no respect for people’s mandate. How does one trust a person who seeks vote in the name of something and does something else ?? There has to be a law to deal with this menace or else people will loose trust in democracy.

Gokak MLA, Ramesh Jarkiholi disrespected the citizen's mandate. If BJP encourages such disgruntled leaders to form a government through 'operation Kamala', then it will be considered as the murder of democracy in daylight.
The BJP should sit in the opposition and really make this coalition work harder instead of protest and Dharna or luring them with money.

At the same time, we Kannadigas don't want another Arunchal Pradesh, Goa or Sikkim type of government who defected from one party against the voter's mandate.

I request the Association for Democratic Rights to file a petition in the Supreme Court for immediate amendment THE REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE ACT, 1951, to save the democracy from abuse of power.

Better to take action against him and suspend from the party for 5 years for his anti party activities. It should also serve as a warning for other selfish MLAs.
