Kundapur, Jun 10: "Kodgi has given new dimension through solar scheme. From dreams comes thought. From thought come project. From the project a village gets developed. Because of the solar scheme every house in the village of Amasebail has got light. Light is the sign of development," said, Dr Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala.
Dr Heggade was speaking after inaugurating the stage programme at the valedictory function of the Solar lights gift programme on Sunday, June 9, that was jointly organized by Amasebail Charitable Trust, Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Gramabivruddi scheme, Karnataka Bank, Amasebail gram panchayat, Karnataka renewable energy development ltd and deputy commissioner of Udupi district.
Dr Heggade further said, "Our forefathers used to spend their nights in darkness. They used to work hard and sweat for their livelihood. As the human beings have destroyed the gifts of nature and used the electricity more than required, a situation of turning our face towards Sun has come. The use of solar lights is very apt in resolving the electricity issue due to scarcity of rain. The scheme taken up by A G Kodgi of converting the whole village of Amasebail as a solar village a model to the whole country. He has successfully implemented the Grama Swaraj Yojana of Mahatma Gandhi. Important changes are possible as the village development scheme of Shree Kshetra Dharmastala gave priority to the change of life of commoners along with financial independence."
In his blessing address, Sri Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Udupi Pejawar Math said, "A G Kodgi has made a light revolution by installing solar lights in the whole village of Amasebail. The gift of light of Kodgi for the villagers of Amasebail is very precious. A person can serve the people without any ego. The work of seeking god through service is great. From the Math, we are giving the facility of light to Malnad, areas affected by Naxals and backward villages. It is really appreciable that the schemes and work taken up by Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala Dr D Veerendra Heggade is renowned at the national level."
Managing director of Karnataka Bank Mahabaleshwara Bhat presided over the function. Dr H Harish Hande, president of Selco India gave the keynote address. Kota Sreenivas Poojary, leader of the opposition of legislative council gave a speech on the home lights of Amasebail villlage.
Anantkrishna, retired president of Karnataka Bank, Dr L H Manjunath, working executive officer of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Gramabivriddi scheme, Halady Srineevasa Shetty, MLA of Kundapur constituency, Sheela Shetty, vice-president of Udupi zilla panchayat, B Appanna Hegde, former MLA, Raviraj Hegde, president of Dakshina Kannada Milk Federation, Jayalaxmi Shetty, president, Amasebail gram panchayat, T Chandrashekhar Shetty, Ulloor-Macchattu Agricultural Services cooperative association, Manjaiah Shetty, president of Amasebail Agricultural service cooperative association, Narasimha Shetty Bolmane, former president, Timmappa, head teacher of high school and Sathish Naika, panchayat development officer were present.
A procession was taken from the office of the Amasebail Charitable Trust till the high school. Dr Veerendra Heggade, Pejawar Swamiji and Kota Sreenivas Poojary were felicitated on the occasion. A G Kodgi presented scholarship, in the name of his father Krishnaraya Kodgi, to students who have scored distinction in the Amasebail high school.
A G Kodgi, president of Amasebail charitable trust welcomed the gathering and did the introductory speech. The programme was compered by Satyanarayana Bhat Rattady. Muralidhar Shetty, project officer of village development scheme for Kundapur taluk rendered the vote of thanks.
