Sullia, Jun 8: Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math Udupi said that it is not difficult to amicably address the friction that has arisen between Lord Subrahmanya temple and Samputa Narasimha Swamy Math. He said that in reaching an understanding, it will be ensured that the sanctity of the temple and the Math are not compromised with.
In the recent past, there have been frequent incidents of the temple and Math taking the confrontational path owing to disputes about performing of Sarpa Samkara at the Math and such other issues. There were also clashes and an employee of the Math was recently beaten up by those who have sided with the temple. Police complaints were also filed against each other.
The Swamiji was speaking to media persons after discussing the issues involved with the representatives of the Math as well as the temple during his visit to try for an amicable settlement on Friday June 7. The Swamiji said that the differences are mainly in the nature of differences of opinion and that both sides are agreeable to settle the issue through mutual understanding. He said that before June 10, another meeting will be held at Mangaluru, Udupi or Subrahmanya with the temple management and other leaders. He said he is confident of reaching an amicable solution and that he has prayed to the Almighty to create an environment of mutual trust and harmony at Subrahmanya again.
On the Swamiji's arrival at the temple entrance, he was accorded 'Poorna Kumbha' welcome. Later he visited Samputa Narasimha Swamy Math, popularly known as Subrahmanya Math. Sri Vidyaprasannateertha Swamiji of this Math said that Pejawar Swamiji was here for peace talks. He said that temple and Math are like two eyes and damage to any one of the eyes is harmful. He regretted about some recent incidents which had vitiated the atmosphere and expressed the hope that both the institutions will be able to work amicably.
