Udupi: Government offices to function without ACs on Mondays

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (EP)

Udupi, Jun 6: “The government offices in Udupi will function with their ACs off on all Mondays for protection of environment and to reduce global warming,” said deputy commissioner (DC) Hephsiba Rani Korlapati.

She was speaking to reporters on Thursday, June 6.

“The slogan as part of world environment day this year is control of air pollution. Officials in the district administration have unanimously agreed to implement it on every Monday by putting off the ACs in their offices. The district administration will thereby try to reduce global temperatures besides saving electricity. There is already a contribution towards it by officials who arrive to their offices by public transport on every Thursday. Private organizations, banks and corporate organizations can ask their staff to travel by public transport one day in a week and provide their own contribution for environmental protection,” DC added.

“Various measures taken up by the district administration are being implemented without hindering the duties,” she said.

Additional DC Vidya Kumari, agriculture department deputy director Chandrashekhar Nayak and DC office staff were present.

the concerned DC , also should look in to stop using tissue papers ( seen in the picture - face tissue)as its major environmental hazard.

instead can use reusable towel to clean face & save forest & in turn contributing for the global warming issue.

    god bless.

Udupi DC office, RTO office and most of the district Govt offices are situated in Rajathadri, End point, Manipal.

There is a good breeze there provided ventilation is given in right direction.

AC's can be switched off on all days as the natural air will keep cool and it is good for health.

    DC should consider this point.

Useless programs, try to stop corruption in all govt. Offices that usefull for the common public. Now all officers try to get publicity doing useless programs. In udupi city we don't have proper bus stand to stand in summer time . But our great officers want a/c offices and a/c cars.
