Bengaluru, Jun 6: The expansion or reformation of the state cabinet that was expected to take place after the Lok Sabha elections is becoming an illusion day by day. This is the bone of contention now between the senior and juniors in state Congress party. As the date is getting deferred, the rage among the aspirants of minister positions is increasing. This has created a delicate situation for the stability of the coalition government.
It was decided that the expansion of the cabinet will be done on Eid holiday. But as the aspirants for the ministerial berth are more, the party has decided not to expand or reform the cabinet now as this may cause controversy and more headaches to the coalition government. So the aspirants for the minister positions have started to vent out their anger openly.
Senior leaders Ramalinga Reddy and Roshan Baig have already expressed their unhappiness on the state Congress leaders, especially former CM Siddaramiah, state-in-charge K C Venugopal and KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao. Now another senior leader H K Patil has demanded the intervention of AICC president Rahul Gandhi to resolve the issue that has cropped up the in the state Congress party.
H K Patil said, "Rahul Gandhi has to mediate between the various leaders and MLAs of the Congress party to resolve the present crisis. The situation might get out hand, if the Congress high command does not intervene now. Rahul Gandhi himself has to call a meeting of all the senior leaders and resolve the chaos."
"High command should intervene immediately when the senior leaders of the party are openly expressing their anguish. Certain MLAs have directly expressed their unhappiness on state-in-charge K C Vengugopal over the issue of not expanding the state cabinet. Rahul Gandhi has to call for a meeting and find a solution to the issue," added H K Patil.
In the midst of all these chaos, Siddaramaiah, who is on the receiving end of the dissidents in the party, said, "The position of minister that has fallen vacant due to the demise of C S Shivalli will be given to Ramalinga Reddy. I will not speak anything about H Vishwanath of JD(S) and Roshan Baig."
