Bengaluru, Jun 6: Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah and the Karnataka BJP entered a twitter war, on issues regarding Dalits.
It all began with Siddaramaiah praising the Congress government for giving opportunities to Dalit leaders and introducing schemes that ensure that the Dalit community is uplifted.
He then condemned the BJP for not including at least one Dalit MP in the union cabinet, even though 5 Dalit MPs won from the state. He then took a dig at the BJP that Dalits cannot be uplifted with just ‘big talks’.
Siddaramaiah's statement comes after D V Sadananda Gowda who belongs to Vokkaliga community was made chemicals and fertilizers minister. Suresh Angadi who is from Lingayat community was made minister of state for railways.
Prahlad Joshi and Nirmala Sitharaman, both Brahmins were made parliamentary affairs minister and finance minister respectively.
BJP was quick to hit back. Nicknaming the former CM as ‘Twitter Ramaiah,’ the BJP asked Siddaramaiah not to show his love for Dalits only on twitter. “People are aware on how you prevented G Parameshwara from being CM just because he was a Dalit. Why not make Mallikarjun Kharge, who has lost Lok Sabha polls as the chief minister if you really cared for the Dalits,” BJP tweeted.
