Doha, Jun 4: Team Pinnacle Kuwait, along with the Goan Emperors of Comedy entertained the Konkani community of Qatar with their rib-tickling comedy on May 31. The programme was hosted by the Konkani community of the Church of our Lady of Rosary, Qatar at the Lady of Our Arabia hall.
The proceedings of the evening began at 5 pm with the organizing committee on stage welcoming the audience with the spiritual director Fr Anand Castelino and the president of the committee Sucorro Vaz.
Team Pinnacle Kuwait presented their Konkani comedy play ‘Phalyan Poleyan’ written by the Konkani comedy prince Pradeep Barboza Paladka and directed by Lucy Lobo Aranha Gurpur. The drama revolved around two families living in the same neighbourhood looking for proposals for their sons. When a retired teacher arrives with his beautiful daughter in the same neighborhood, both boys including their mothers vie to win over the girl without knowing the girl’s past life. Thus many hilarious situations follow. The drama ends with a strong message to the society about the true values of a family and importance of forgiveness.
The team succeeded in tickling the ribs of the audience and bringing out the emotions to its maximum. The artistes Lucy Lobo Aranha (Direction and artiste), Rajesh Fernandes, Avil Fernandes, Blen D'Souza, Cynthia Pinto, Helen D'Souza, Johnson D'Almeida, Lional Mascarenhas, Sathish Saldanha, Sunny Menezes, Wilson D’Souza and Anil Menezes gave their best to fill the life to their respective characters in the drama. Music and Lights were managed by Suneeth Noronha, Purandar Manchi and Movin Nazareth.
Other important highlight of the evening was the rib-tickling laughter and entertainment from the Goan artistes Prince Jacob and John D’Silva. Both of them entertained the audience to the maximum with their jokes and were also a part of the comedy play ‘Phalyan Poleyan’. Prince Jacob and John D’Silva both have been in limelight for many years in Goan Tiatrs and Konkani movies in Goa but of late they are also acting in Konkani movies of Mangaluru. Thus they both have won the hearts of all Konkani people living across the globe.
Gulf Voice of Mangalore – Season 6 winner, golden voice of Qatar Clement Fernandes and Sarah Lobo from Kuwait entertained the audience with the beautiful Konkani number ‘Uzwad Chandremach’.
A short stage programme was held on the occasion to felicitate the sponsors and artistes of the evening. Main sponsor of the programme was Felix Lobo and co-sponsors were Jerald D’Mello, Dennis D’Souza, William Aranha, Donald Pereira, Morgan Lester Fernandes and Dennis D’Souza. All were felicitated with a bouquet of flowers. Main sponsor Felix Lobo appreciated the efforts put in by the organizing committee to organize the entertaining evening. Guest priest Fr Antony Lopez from Kuwait thanked the Konkani community of Qatar for giving an opportunity to Team Pinnacle to present their play to the Konkani drama lovers in Qatar.
Prince Jacob, John D’Silva and Lucy Lobo Aranha were felicitated on the occasion. All the three thanked the Konkani Community of Qatar for providing a platform for them to showcase their talents and thus keep alive the Konkani language in the gulf. Volunteers Prakash Noronha, William Lobo and Ronald Aroza were felicitated on the occasion for their extra-ordinary support and help to prepare and put up the stage for the drama. Team Pinnacle was felicitated by the spiritual director Fr Anand Castelino and president Sucorro Vaz.
President Sucorro Vaz welcomed the gathering and organizing committee members Aloysius D’Souza and Simon D’Silva rendered the vote of thanks. Reena Castelino hosted the evening in Konkani with grace and elan.
