Kuwait, Jun 4: The decisive meeting of 'Shoun' department that had been scheduled for Monday, June 3 was put off at the last minute. As such, the hopes of 72 people from India including 33 from Dakskhina Kannada district who have been stuck at Kuwait of early return to their native places have been dashed.
The meeting held on Sunday at 'Shoun' office that works like courts in respect of labour disputes was attended by second secretary in the Indian Embassy, Shibi U S, representatives of Shoun, Pam, and Inesco General Trading and Contracting Company along with 60 affected workers. The meeting was postponed to Monday as all the distressed workers were not present.
In the meantime, the company confirmed to Indian embassy that the Indian employees have returned the assets belonging to the company. But it is yet to issue no objection certificates. The company had promised to pay 100 dinars to the affected workers out of which it has disbursed 38 dinars to them. It has said that it will disburse the balance amount when releasing them from the contract.
Representative of Inesco General Trading called up Indian Embassy and expressed helplessness in attending the meeting on Monday because of Ramzan preparations. Therefore the meeting was again called off. This meeting is likely to be held on the ninth or tenth of this month.
