Beltangady, Apr 29: The taluk witnessed two deaths in two separate accidents that occurred on Monday April 27 night and Tuesday evening, respectively.
In an accident involving Mahindra Seater vehicle and a jeep near Naravi Church Cross within Venur police station limits on Monday night, N O George (52) from Nerapatt House of Addahole, Shiradi village, lost his life. The Mahindra Seater vehicle was moving to Dharmastala from Bhatkal while the Jeep was going to Naravi from Guruvayankere, when the two collided with each other. George, who was seated at the back of the jeep, was tossed to the road due to the impact of the accident and sustained grave injuries. He breathed his last while being taken to Manipal Hospital. Jeep driver Prakash too was injured in the accident. Venur police have registered a case.
In the other case, a government bus and motor bike were involved in the accident that occurred on Tuesday evening near Siddavana, Ujire. Satish (35) from Dondole in Dharmasthala village, who was riding on the bike's pillion, lost his life. He was going in the motor bike with his brother-in-law, when the accident occurred. He was seriously injured after falling onto the road. Arrangements were made to transport him immediately to Mangalore for treatment but he could not be saved.
Beltangady policemen have registered a case.
