Bengaluru, Jun 2: "In addition to efficiently handling the ministry of parliamentary affairs under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I will ensure that required amount of coal is supplied to the state as I hold the ministry of coal also," said MP of Hubballi-Dharwad and minister of Parliamentary Affair, Coal and Mining, Prahlad Joshi.
Joshi also said that he will work for the realization of dreams of people of north Karnataka region and the development of the state in general.
Giving details of his responsibilities, Prahlad Joshi further said, "I will discuss with the PM in order to give a new dimension to the ministry of parliamentary affairs. PM Modi has given many suggestions in order to make the first session of the 17th Lok Sabha that is scheduled to begin on June 17. I have already started working under the leadership of the prime minister who has extensive knowledge and information. People will see the results of this in coming days."
Responding to the query on coal requirements of the state and country, Joshi said, "I will see that not a single thermal power plant of the country stops work for even one hour for scarcity of coal. This is the assurance given by the central government to the people of India. Let the state government produce electricity to its full capacity. The stock of coal should be enough for 24 or 25 days of production. However, now the state is having collection of coal that lasts only 15 to 16 days of production. All over India the stock of coal production is 84% whereas in Karnataka it is 86%. Karnataka is ahead in terms of coal stock from the rest of the country. As per the needs of the state, all the four electricity producing units have enough stock of coal. We are ready to provide coal as much as required by the state of Karnataka."
To a query on fulfilling the needs of people of North Karnataka region, minister Joshi said, "As I am elected from that part of the state, naturally people will have expectations from me. However, I am going to work for the development of the whole state, in addition to taking special care of the northern Karnataka people. I will take guidance from the senior leaders with regards to the issues of the state and act accordingly."
