Panaji, Apr 27: The re-polling on a booth for North Goa Lok Sabha constituency began today peacefully with 23.58 per cent voting recorded till noon.
Goa which went for poll on April 23 had to go for repolling on one booth in Sankhalim assembly constituency segment which falls in North Goa Lok Sabha constituency. Election officials had stated that the electronic voting machines (EVMs) commissioned on the booth during April 23 poll developed technical snag.
BJP’s sitting MP Sripad Naik is pitted against NCP’s Jitendra Deshprabhu in this constituency which is also having Shiv Sena’s Upendra Gaonkar and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party’s Pandurang Raut vying for the coveted seat.
In all 810 voters are eligible to vote on this booth, which is tucked in Goa’s iron ore rich mining belt.
