Mangaluru: Police act against fish trucks dripping effluents on road

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, May 30: The police, who often receive complaints about problems created by smelly and sticky effluents which drip on the road from trucks carrying fish loads, took stern steps against them on Thursday, May 30.

The fish trucks found violating guidelines and allowing effluents to flow out on to the roads were stopped and fined by the police. The drivers of such trucks were also issued strict warning.

The effluents which continue to fall out of the fish trucks not only pollute the atmosphere but also create problems for other vehicles and the general public to move about because of the bad odour they spread around. Many a time, they also spoil the clothes worn by people and vehicle riders.

Based on various complaints received about this problem, the police department had issued directions for such trucks to follow. They were asked to arrange for storing the effluents flowing out into bins arranged below the fish load.

It is really a big nonsense to carry fish in a open lorrys or van ,ice water drippling down throughout the road.It attracts flys ,stinks, and road is absolute dirty, dirty water falls even on people passing by too.Find is good to fine the careears. But only fining is not done and it continues further.Thatswhy a rule should be made to carry fish not in open vans without proper cooling and without dropping water on the routes.A carrier which is closed and icing process has ,so that whatever water drips collects inside itself or not waters, due to freezer effect..due to hot sun from above ice too gets watery and drips down.Second about garbage water, people self have to see that no water collects in garbage bin.Not dump everything in bin.be careful to put some papers down so that it takes up water.Fluids canbe thrown elsewhere but not in bin.Be aware of your atmosphere ,instead of blaming of garbage collectors.

dirty fluids and all sorts of waste are either falling off trucks or leaking off it......typing this alone will make me puke....why only fish mongers and transporters? even this is a issue right?

Give solution to the transport companies rather than simply fining and make their life miserable. Most of these truck owners may not be educated and may not even know what's wrong in transporting fish in his truck which is carried on for the last so many years. Sudden change of attitude need to be communicated to the transport companies or provide alternate solution to the existing problems. It should not be moneymaking business to the Traffic Police or any other dept.

In my 15 years bike riding experienceI had my first fall due to the sticky slippery fish water on the road.
