Bengaluru: Congress leaders meet CM over cabinet reshuffle

Bengaluru, May 29 (IANS): Five Congress leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara, met Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) for reshuffling the cabinet to quell dissidence in the party and ensure continuation of their year-old coalition government, a party official said on Wednesday.

"Our party leaders met Kumaraswamy at the state-run Kumarakrupa guest house in the city to discuss a cabinet reshuffle and ensure the continuation of the government," Congress spokesman Ravi Gowda told IANS here.

Besides Parameshwara, the party's state unit in-charge K C Venugopal, allies coordination committee chairman Siddaramaiah, state Home Minister M.B. Patil and state Water Resources Minister D K Shivakumar participated in the meeting.

"The outcome of the meeting will be discussed at the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting later in the day here to ensure all the legislators remain united to run the coalition government smoothly in the face of electoral setback in the recent Lok Sabha elections," said Gowda.

The Congress and the JD-S were routed by the BJP in the 28 parliamentary constituencies in the southern state. The BJP won 25 as against one each by the two parties.

Independent Sumalatha Ambareesh, backed by the BJP, wrested the Mandya seat from the JD-S.

In the 34-member Ministry, the Congress has one vacant cabinet post from its quota of 22 berths and the JD-S two out of its quota of 12.

"Parleys are on to fill the three vacant cabinet posts and reshuffle the Ministry to induct a couple of MLAs keen on joining the government in place of their incumbents," added Gowda.

When is the time for these leaders to rule the state. They are busy all the time trying to hold on to their party politics, without spending time on state development. This should stop immediately.
    Jai Hind. Jai Modiji.

This drama has become too much for people of Karnataka.

Every week we read news about defection, satisfy, re-shuffle, resorts etc.

Head of party does not have control on a single MLA. They are blackmailing the Govt.

CM, DCM and important ministers are busy in this activity and the governance is suffering.

Why they want to stick on with this kind of state of affairs?

Peoples' dissatisfaction is growing and this will be against the ruling parties in next election.

One of the readers here is very confident that within a month the BJP will form the government in Karnataka. Quite possible. Nobody is denying that. Moreover, if media reports are to be believed, the BJP is offering each MLA 50 crores to cross over to their side.
When so much money is being offered, is it any wonder that they will not get people to join them? The reader goes one step forward and says that Yeddyurappa will capture power to rule. Here, I have my own doubts and I beg to differ.

If empirical evidence is anything to go by, let me remind him that the last time Yeddy did not rule. He misruled and looted the money from the state. He looted your money as well as mine. It is another matter that he has been exonerated. We all know what strength and power money has to buy people.

For that matter for the last one year we have been looted continously rather than ruled by this coilation govt. Now both the parties r pulling the legs of each other and BJP has nothing to do with their internal matter. If both the coilation partners have any morality left they should resign and go for new election. For both particularly for JDS karnataka is the only ATM for its shortage of resources.

Let whatever happen in the country or center do not allow the balatkari party to come to power in Karnataka.
Frustrate the chaddi yeddy and company more and more. they have already tried 10 times and failed miserably. Even daku and feku could not do anything.
At least in Karnataka, whatever might be your infighting, JD (S) and Congress leaders, forget everything and keep the wolves in bay
If they come to power then against the same worst situation of three CMs in five years and lot of communcal disturabnce will happen which all of us know and suffered between 2008-2013
    Jai Kannada mathe, Jai Karnatka.

Whatever you or mamu say sstands good only for rest of India and not Karnataka.

You have seen yourself that how many times Yeddy tried, Ramesh Jarkiholi tried and Daku and Feku also gave enough money from Delhi but the lion D K Shivakumar could not be bent. In Karnataka nothing is going to happen.

Balatkari party will have to just chew the cud till 2023

Do you think Deve gawda family do not have close contact with modi.
As per contract...agreement between both over lapsed ruling of HDK.
What ever months extra fall in lap it's nothing but extra bonus. When 40 % members of both congress or jd's leave the party how govt.run..?
Mid-term poll is an last option. Do you seen minutely how people of karnatka voted for bjp. Congress earlier made people slaves..by offering now and than some money..some incentives..some land. These people upto now live below poverty line. Only they are after to have all free things. Never they expect to earn more and live good life in competition of the society. Made them and used them only good for vote bank.
