Bengaluru, May 29: "Shobha Karandlaje had remained adamant at not contesting the recent Lok Sabha election. Under pressure from various quarters, she finally consented to enter the fray. She has won with a big margin. I am confident that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will suitably reward her by giving her an honourable position," said state BJP president, B S Yeddyurappa. With these words, he indirectly expressed his desire that she should be made a union minister.
He was speaking at a programme organized in the state BJP office here on Tuesday to thank BJP Mahila Morcha activists who worked for the victory of the party in the Lok Sabha election, and Shobha Karandlaje, who happens to be the only lady BJP MP to be elected from the state.
"The women now are not lagging behind in any field. They have been discharging duties with total dedication and efficiency in all the fields. People continue to remember the exemplary way in which she functioned as minister for energy and rural development departments in the BJP regime. I am confident that Modi will recognize her potential and give her a position of importance. I will convey the opinions of the Mahila Morcha activists to both Modi and BJP national president, Amit Shah," he stated.
Shobha, who accepted the felicitation offered to her, noted that her success life has the aspirations, wishes and demands of the Mahila Morcha activists. She said that it is not easy for the women to continue in the field of politics as they need to fight their way, and even their own neighbours look down on them. She however said that there is a need to get rid of the popular notion that politics is meant for men alone.
