Beltangady, May 28: A man was savagely hacked to death in the town. The incident happened during late night hours on Monday May 27 at Mundoor in the taluk.
The person who was butchered was Vikram, a lecturer of the government industrial training institute at Maladi. Unidentified persons attacked him with a machete and escaped.
The locals had seen that an unknown two-wheeler had been stopped at the spot where Vikram's mortal remains were found. It is thought that because of some enmity this murder could have been committed. Recovery of liquor bottle near the car belonging to Vikram has made the people to believe that it could have been a murder committed in drunken state after the two fought in an inebriated condition.
The police have visited the spot, inspected the situation and registered a case. Investigation has been launched.
