Tumakuru, May 28: While JD(S) and Congress are posing that the coalition in Karnataka is going strong, cracks have started to appear. A senior Congress leader has stated that the coalition in Karnataka will collapse after June 10.
Blaming deputy chief minister Dr G Parameshwara for the party’s defeat in Tumakuru, senior Congress leader K N Rajanna on Monday alleged that Parameshwara will lose his post after PM Modi’s oath ceremony.
He also said that the coalition is set to collapse after June 10. Calling Parameshwara ‘zero traffic minister,’ Rajanna lashed out that the deputy CM did nothing for Tumakuru. He also pointed out that when Kanakapura got a medical college, the DCM refused to sanction the same.
“He could have lost his post even before. However, it is BJP that has decided to stop till the PM takes the oath,” he said.
In Tumakuru the coalition decided to field JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda instead of the sitting Congress MP SP Muddhanumegowda. This did not go down well with many Congress workers but G Parameshwara had appealed to the Congress workers to follow the ‘coalition dharma.’
HD Deve Gowda lost to BJP's GS Basavaraj.
On Sunday, MLAs Ramesh Jarkiholi and Sudhakar meeting BJP leader R Ashok and SM Krishna at his residence had raised eyebrows.
However, both clarified that the meeting was personal and they had gone to congratulate the senior leader. They asked media not to give a political angle to it.
Congress state unit is set to meet on May 29 for a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting.
