Karnataka 'Singham' Annamalai to resign from police force, take political plunge?

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, May 27: In what may come as a surprise as well as a sad news for his fans and admirers, IPS officer Annamalai, hailed as 'Singham' of Karnataka police, has reportedly decided to resign from his profession and probably plunge into politics.

According to media reports, Annamalai had planned to resign after Lok Sabha elections. A Kannada channel reported that he would be officially resigning on June 4.

An IPS officer of the 2011 batch, Annamalai may go back to his native state of Tamil Nadu and join politics, and according to reports, he has taken this decision after discussions with close friends and well-wishers.

Deccan Herald reported that Annamalai is said to have met a few RSS leaders in the recent past, but there is no confirmation if he would join the BJP. An RSS source was quoted as saying that Annamalai would be taking the decision on joining politics only after submitting his resignation. Another source said that he may either take up social service or join a national political party.

However, Annamalai himself has denied reports about him joining politics, and has not confirmed about resignation either.

Currently serving as DCP in Bengaluru, Annamalai is known as a strict and upright officer feared by criminals and anti-social elements. During his stint as SP of Udupi, he kept a tight grip on fringe elements and earned the love and respect of the public, so much so that when he was transferred, people protested.

Hailing from Karur in Tamil Nadu, Annamalai began his career as ASP of Karkala sub-division in 2013, before becoming SP of Udupi and Chikkamagaluru districts. He was later transferred to Bengaluru.

if one observes closely there is a pattern that is emerging in our country. Bollywood stars, cricketers, celebrities and IAS and IPS officers are all joining politics when they feel their career is over in their respective fields.
Indian is ruled by just 5% of well off people. Other 95% live on the crumbs thrown by them.
    God save this country.

Fear dynasty people and frauds entering parliament /assemblies, not accomplished people in their respective fields. Moreover it is not an emerging trend. MGR Jaya Lalita, NTR, Amitabh, Rajesh khanna, Ajaruddin, Vinod khanna, Dharmendra etc are not recent entrants. Even US President Ronald Reagan was an Hollihood actor. Recently Ukraine has elected a Comedian as President. Our population is not matured enough to select perfect candidates, still people vote on the basis of caste, religion, region and freebies. Instead of street gundas it is good if qualified people enter politics.

in western countries people work sincerely in whatever they do unlike our sanatana country where the only thing in mind is to loot and amass wealth.

It is foolish to compare non-sanatana countries with India which has a history of million of years as per the vedic texts

If this news is true, it is a big loss to Indian Police Service.

It is also a great loss to people as it is difficult to find such people in bureaucracy.

He was also a great human being and would contribute a lot to people if he joins politics.

But can he stand against the vicious circle of politics needs to be seen.

Probably he is disillusioned. Instead of being the slave of politicians who are worst kind of criminals, he thought of being their Master. We need good political leaders Sir, good luck.

Please don't do such things sir. Irrespective of anything and everything, people love and respect you now, you are a role model for so many kids and youngsters who want to become like you. The day you enter any political party, all that respect will jst be gone. All hard earned respect will fade away in seconds just the way it happened in the case of people like Kiran Bedi. You don't belong in politics sir, pls don't do it..

Get yourself examined first...………….. All this while Modi had a scapegoat to blame .The Gandhi family. Now with Rahul Gandhi resigning and the Gandhi family deciding to take a back seat there will be no more excuses for failures. Secondly only a deranged person would want a country without a strong opposition not someone who loves his country or considers himself a nation lover and a patriot.

Kushal, don't do kusal. The world has been a witness about how really nice people like kejriwal, Kiran Bedi, Shankar bidari etc have changed after they entered politics.

The system is so corrupt that even the nicer ones become worse. And pls don't talk about your nonsense of Congress July Bharat and all, without a strong opposition this govt will sell everything to Ambanis and Adanis.

We lost our Vijaya bank, lost water by means of Yettinahole, lost our airport as well here, no one did anything. No one will do anything till the next 4 years, PM will again start blaming Rajiv Gandhi and Nehru to get votes again.

You want him to play the tune you wish to hear right ?? if he is rumored to be joining Congress, then it is perfectly OK ....
D'Souza sir, just think the other way of the coin, being an IPS officer, highly educated, comes from a very well to do family, extremely dynamic, honest and upright officer, the system of country wants him to bow before politicians like Limbu Revanna, SaRa Mahesh, Yeddy-Reddy .....
This is irony, cynicism of your original character .....
Our federal system needs people like Annamalai as a law maker ....

Today I agree with Mr. Saldhana. we really need a super cop in Parliament as well as in every Legistative assembly. So, lets encourage intelligent , honest and people with High Moral from all walks of life to enter Politics and throw away these parasites who are there to suck the blood of common man. There was a time about 30 to 4years back when some fellow classmate was caught telling lies all his friends would scratch their legs to sigtamise him / her. This must happen in our public life - the corrupt must be sigtamised and their family must be pointed that, they are using ill gotten wealth. Paste a picture of blood sucking Darcula in front of every corrupt officer and politicians so that, they can see what their real picture is.

Mr. Annamalai has been a good and strict Police Officer. During his tenure in Udupi, he managed the region exceedingly well. I had the pleasure knowing him for a very short while but indeed he left a very good impression on me and several other people.

His exit is a loss to The Police Department.

Surely he will not join Dmk because ,
    1. Dmk is corrupted family party also a Anti hindutuva ideas , but Dmk can invite him because of caste
based politics . He belongs to Gounder cummunity , This community always strong support to ADMK of MGR and Jayalalitha . Current CM belongs to Same community , they are always against DMK .
    2. Also my observations are he is beleiving in Hindutuva ideas , i think BJP or Rajini is a right parties for him .
