Bantwal, May 27: Bantwal taluk police have arrested three Bajrang Dal activists for allegedly abusing and threatening to behead Congress member Mithun Rai on the day of Lok Sabha election results on May 23.
Nishant (23), a resident of Ammunje here, Sachin (25) from Bantwal, and Karthik (30), a resident of Kasargod, were arrested here on Monday May 27.
According to the complaint filed by Mithun Rai, who was the Congress candidate for the Lok Sabha elections from Dakshina Kannada, at around 6 pm on May 23 after the results were declared, Bajrang Dal activists violated prohibitory orders under Section 144 and gathered at Badakabailu in Kariangala to celebrate BJP's victory.

The group of Bajrang Dal activists allegedly used abusive words against Mithun Rai and even issued a threat to his life, calling for his beheading. The complaint also states that the activists raised slogans in a public place and disrupted peace, and also also started a group clash.
The accused not only issued a threat to Mithun's life but also made a post on it go viral on social media, the complaint states.
Based on the complaint filed under sections 143,144,504,506,505(1)(C),153A, 149 of the IPC, the Bantwal taluk police on Monday arrested the three accused.
