Mangaluru, May 27: Late A T Lobo’s ‘Novro’, Konkani classic drama, was staged at Don Bosco Hall on Sunday, May 26 to a houseful audience. .
The drama, set in Bombay of 1960s, was directed by John M Permannur with the artistes from Kala Kutam and produced by A T Lobo Foundation.
A short stage function was held prior to the classic play. Alice Lobo, president of the foundation briefed about the achievements and future plans of A T Lobo Foundation. President of A T Lobo Foundation Alice Lobo, coordinator Albert Sequeira, treasurer Charles Pais and vice president Linette Fernandes graced the stage. Meena Rebimbus and John Permannur were honoured by the organisers.
Celine Sequeira thanked all the donors and people who helped to stage the drama.
Alwyn Pinto compered the stage programme. He is also one of the members of A T Lobo Foundation and is instrumental in holding the programmes of the foundation.
A Konkani qawali video song penned by A T Lobo was unveiled at the occasion which was also uploaded in YouTube.
The classic drama followed after the state programme which was totally entertaining. The story revolves around a jobless man who goes to Bombay in search of a job. The drama with comedy depicts the life of people in yesteryears Bombay where lots of Mangalureans migrated in search of jobs. Many of them got married there only. The story portrays the socio-economic situation of that time with strong message even for today’s generation.
Jerome Moras, Leslie Ferrao, Roshan Lobo, Norman D'Souza, Stany Fernandes, Nelvita Noronha, Shalini Fernandes, Edward Lobo, Joshwin D’Çunha, Oswald D’Souza, Dolcy D'Souza, Riya D'Souza, and Veena Nayak acted in the drama.
Jerry Concessao and Martin D’Souza were state managers. Chris Electronics provided lights and sounds.
Shamitha Feral D'Souza provided sequence music.
Songs written by Wilfy Rebimbus were sung by Meena Rebimbus, Vishwas Rebimbus and Prem Lobo.
