Bengaluru, May 27: In all likelihood, the state government may take a call on the proposal to cancel various government holidays declared over the last many years on birth anniversaries of different personalities. This issue is slated to come up for discussions at the cabinet meeting scheduled on Monday May 27.
One of the decisions the government is expected to take is pertaining grant of holidays to government employees on fourth Saturdays too like the one currently given on second Saturdays. A cabinet sub-committee headed by minister, Krishna Byregowda, had considered these issues and made recommendations to the government after deliberating on the issues concerned. It is said that this issue would be placed as an additional agenda.
The sub-committee had been formed to consider the proposal to cancel holidays given for different birth anniversaries as per the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission. Cancellation of three casual leaves of government employees, cancellation of eight holidays given for birth anniversaries annually, and giving holidays to fourth Saturdays reportedly are contained in the report of the said sub-committee.
