Mangaluru, May 27: On the basis of intelligence information that ISIS terrorists have left Sri Lanka for Lakshadweep islands, high alert has been sounded in Karnataka coast. Already Kerala coast has been warned of this threat perception.
The state police have been keeping a close vigil on the lines of Kerala as there is possibility of the terrorists trying to sneak into Karnataka while on their way to Lakshadweep.
Since the ISIS attacks happened in Sri Lanka, police personnel along with the Coast Guard and Indian Navy have been on high alert all along west coast of India. Karnataka Coastal Security Police Force personnel have asked the fishermen to convey information to them in case of sighting of suspicious boats in the sea.
Navy in readiness: Cdr Sridhar Warrier said at Kasargod that the navy is fully prepared to face any kind of aggression and that the navy has been keeping close watch in the coast. Intelligence reports have mentioned that the terrorists are moving in a white coloured boat and coastal security police stations, coast guard and navy have also increased their vigilance and patrols. The fishermen committees have been requested to keep an eye on unnatural happenings at sea.
The intelligence department's feedback is that the terrorists plan to conduct their operation through Kerala coast. Plan of action is ready at the joint operation centre of southern Navy at Kochi to browbeat any kind of attacks. The Coast Guard and navy have been checking boats which look suspicious.
Gangolli
On the basis of information about 15 suspected ISIS terrorists coming towards Kerala coast from Sri Lanka, high level vigilance has been kept at Gangolli port too. Joint teams of navy and coastal security police have been keeping watch. Their boats have been moving around for an average of five hours every day in the sea. Armed police have been stationed at all points where the boats arrive after undertaking fishing. Coastal Security Police force personnel said that all security measures have been undertaken and there is no need for panic among the people.
