Madikeri, May 25: Kodagu district administration has dismissed as false the information making the rounds in the social media about some parts of the district having experienced earthquake. Armed with documentary evidence, the administration has dubbed the information as a rumour.
The administration, taking note of the information about the earthquake, had taken up the issue with the state natural disaster response force and sought clarification. Director of the force, Srinivas Reddy, clarified that no data about any tremors were recorded in the 14 earthquake measuring centres in Kodagu.

He also said that even the centre at Harangi reservoir did not record any such developments. It said that the centre has been monitoring the climatic condition of each village of the district and getting updates of any undue developments. He has assured the administration and the people that there is no need to panic.
The rumours which were widely circulated in the social media had said that along with thunder on Thursday, light tremors were experienced at Nelyahudikeri village near Siddapur. This had given rise to apprehension and fear among the people.
