Mangaluru, May 24: It is a topic of hot discussion now in the district. Will Shobha Karandlaje, who has secured second straight win and Nalin Kumar Kateel, who has won for the third time in succession get the minister position in the central cabinet?
Shobha is the only woman candidate who has contested on the BJP ticket from the state of Karnataka. The second victory will also complement for her eligibility to be considered for the position of minister. Though BJP has supported Sumalata Ambareesh in Mandya, she is not the official candidate of the party. So there is no need to be surprised if Shobha Karandlaje gets minister position in the central cabinet.
Responding to the query by the scribes on the subject, Shobha said that she is not an aspirant for the ministership. However, if the party gives, she is ready to accept.
The chances of getting into the cabinet are more for Nalin Kumar Kateel who has had a hat-trick of wins from the Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency. Minister for civil aviation Suresh Prabhu had hinted about this when he had come to Mangaluru for the election campaign. Speaking in the press conference, Suresh Prabhu had said that Nalin Kumar Kateel is going to get a vital responsibility in the national politics.
Nalin is already identified himself in the influential BJP leaders at the national level. He is close to the national president Amit Shah since he has been given the post of co-in-charge of the party for the state of Kerala. The mammoth rally that was organized during Modi's visit to Mangaluru is another plus point to Nalin. Modi himself was absolutely happy and satisfied by the welcome he received in the city and the ocean of people that gathered at the Nehru Maidan in the city. Taking into consideration all these point, it seems that the possibility of getting a berth in central cabinet is more for Nalin Kumar Kateel.
The talk of giving minister position to Nalin was heard in the last term also. The matter of giving him the minister position in order to challenge the clout of Congress in the districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi was also discussed in the last term. Earlier, Janardhan Poojary and Dhananjay Kumar got the minister positions representing the district of Dakshina Kannada. Sadananda Gowda, who is also a native of Dakshina Kannada district won from Bengaluru North in 2014 and is the current minister in the central cabinet.
