Tumakuru, May 22: Even as the recent prasada tragedy that occurred at Chamarajnagar remains still fresh in memory, one more mishap of similar nature has been reported, this time from Pavagada taluk here.
One boy died and more than 20 people were taken ill after consuming prasdam that was served at the Veerabhadra Swamy temple at Nidgallu of Pavagada taluk in the district.
Devotees of Shira origin, who had been to the temple on Monday, May 20 had used the water from the trough to cook the prasada as there was shortage of water.
Within a short while of consuming the food the devotees started vomiting and also suffered dysentry. It is suspected that the contaminated water from the trough may be the cause of the sickness.
A boy aged 11 succumbed to the food poisoning while the others have been admitted to the hospital in Shira.
