Mangalore, Apr 15: The Parish Day of Sacred Heart Church, Suratkal, was celebrated on April 12 at the church premises. Parish priest Fr Antony Lobo presided over the function. He called upon the parishioners to exhibit unity and work for the upliftment of the community. Jerald Cutinho, senior operations manager, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, was the chief guest. Jerald Cutinho, a parishioner of Suratkal, spoke about his experience in the parish as a youth and how that experience benefited him in his present life. He wished the best to all the parishioners and praised them for organizing so many programmes during the year.
Sacred Heart ward won the Late John Misquith memorial award meant for the best ward and was handed the rolling shield. Peter Paul D’Souza, vice-president, welcomed the gathering. Roydon, secretary, read the annual report. Alfred D’Souza, convener, Youth Committee proposed vote of thanks. Marita D’Souza, Lizzy D’Souza and Rashmi Pereira compered the programme.
Entertainment programme that followed consisted of various dances by the parishioners. ‘Raktachi Kannik,’ Konkani drama written and directed by J B D’Souza, Kulshekar was staged by the parishioners on the occasion.
