Udupi: Prohibitory orders and ban on sale of alcohol ahead of poll counting

Udupi, May 17: With the Lok Sabha elections vote counting day nearing, Udupi district administration is taking precautionary measures to ensure law and order is maintained in Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency.

In the constituency, the polls will be counted on May 23 at St Cecily's Institutions in Brahmagiri.

Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC from May 23, 6 am up to May 25, 6 am.

Alcohol sale is banned in the district from May 22, 6 pm up to May 24, 6 am. Hotels have also been directed against serving alcohol during the ban period.

The DC has banned sale and bursting of firecrackers from May 22, 10 am up to May 24, 5 pm.

The measures are being taken to ensure that the poll counting process is peaceful and law and order is maintained at all times.
