Mangaluru, May 16: Shreemathi Shetty had visited the house of Jonas Julin Samson and Victoria Mathias couple residing at Sooterpet on May 11 to demand repayment of the remaining amount of Rs 60,000 due to her. On this occasion, hot words were exchanged, and the couple killed her on the spot. The couple which cut the body into pieces thereafter, spent the entire day in the company of mutilated body parts, it is said. The police have recovered the weapons used to chop the body. Interestingly, even neighbours living close to the couple's current residence at Sooterpet did not have any inkling of this gruesome murder.
The police, who checked CCTV footage at various places in the city, found out that Shreemathi Shetty, instead of going to her shop in her scooter after leaving home, went to Sooterpet. The footage showed her reaching till ninth cross at Sooterpet between 9 and 9.30 am that day. The police relied on this clinching clue to close in on the murder plan.

Besides, the employees of the electrical appliances repair shop owned by Shreemathi told the police about the loan obtained by Samson from Shreemathi and that discussions had taken place on this long-pending repayment often. Although three teams were investigating the murder from different angles, till the night of May 14, the police had not been able to lay their hands on the culprits. Although the police questioned over 20 people including Sudeep, second husband of Shreemathi who is currently in jail, and also interrogated four more who had contacts with the murdered lady by taking them into custody, they could not get any clue.
The police who were questioning people who had dealings with Shreemathi located the address of Samson and went to his home on Tuesday night. Although the police repeatedly knocked at the door, Samson did not open the door. The suspicion of the police got strengthened by his behaviour, and they entered the house by removing tiles, and arrested Samson. When the police came in, Samson tried to commit suicide by hitting his own head with a heavy knife and hence has been admitted into a hospital for treatment of head injury. Samson also faces a murder and another murder attempt case registered in the past, the police stated. They also revealed that the cell phone of Shreemathi was found in the two-wheeler belonging to her.
It is learnt that during verbal friction, Samson had hit Shreemathi Shetty in the head with a wooden block at which she collapsed and died on the spot. Samson told the police that he had only a two-wheeler with him and hence did not have facility to transport the entire body in it. He therefore decided to cut the body into pieces and dispose them in an attempt to destroy evidence. After scattering pieces of the body at various places, he kept the two-wheeler in the house of a friend, Raju. The police have also questioned Raju. The finger rings and gold chain which Shreemathi wore were recovered from the possession of Samson by the police. They also got information that he had tried to raise a loan by pledging these ornaments.
Samson was facing losses in his fast food business and hence had closed it down since a month. He was not even able to pay the rent of the house properly. He had been asked to vacate the house by the owner, it is said.
