Mangaluru: Customs officials seize gold worth Rs 34.75 lac at airport

Mangaluru, May 15: The customs officials at the International airport in the city seized 24 carat gold of foreign origin worth Rs 34.75 lac on Tuesday, May 14.

The weight of the confiscated gold is 1052.90 grams.

This was seized from a passenger who arrived from Dubai by SpiceJet flight SG60.

 

The arrested person had concealed the gold as two mercury coated ingots in the motor of Nikai brand mixer which he carried in his checkin luggage.

    Every time gold is seized at MIA... but still day by day they carry Gold in many form ??? this tells that only sometimes they are caught ??? one or other way they are carrying Gold from Gulf ?????

    This is not something new. Kudos to Mangalore customs officials for this big catch. Gold smuggling is very common these days in all parts of the country. Few are caught and many go freely as they have good connections.

    Adani's job is to manage, operate and maintain airport's facilities, not to collect customs duty or to control emigrants and immigrants.
