Mangaluru, May 13: The police have registered a suo motu case in connection to the assault on a 'Daiva Patri' by a group who accused him of being 'gay'.
Lokesh Poojary, the victim, was assaulted and his hair forcibly chopped off by a group including women for allegedly engaging in 'homosexual activity'. The group also forcibly removed his 'Daiva' bangle.
Videos and photographs of the incident had gone viral and many had expressed anger over the assault.
However, despite the video going viral and the grave nature of the assault, no one came forward to file complaint.
Taking serious note of the incident, the Barke police registered a suo motu case against the accused.
The police also warned that nobody should take law into their hands.
