Mandya, May 12: The final report of the intelligence department too, like its two earlier preliminary reports, has delivered a big blow to chief minister, Kumaraswamy, by confirming its earlier predictions that Sumalatha Ambareesh is likely to win Lok Sabha election from this constituency hands down against JD(S) candidate, Nikhil Kumaraswamy. Although the officials have hesitated to clearly say so, the report clearly indicates that Sumalatha is likely to romp home victorious.
The survey has found that Nikhil may gain upper hand in assembly constituencies like Nagamangala, Melukote and K R Pet but Sumalatha will have the last laugh in constituencies like Mandya, Maddur, Srirangapatna, Malavalli and K R Nagar.
It is gathered that the officials of the department have also provided elaborate analysis, giving reasons for the candidates gaining lead or facing reverses in individual assembly constituencies. The findings, reports say, have shocked Kumaraswamy, who summoned the officials to Ibbani Resort in Kodagu where he has been camping, to discuss the matter. He is worried at the tremendous lead Sumalatha is expected to get as per the report over his son.
It is not a secret that defeated Congress legislators, BJP, Raita Sangha etc together worked for the victory of Sumalatha, who is riding on a sympathy wave created by the demise of her actor husband, Ambareesh. He also knows that several JD(S) leaders too did not work for his son's success with dedication. Several party leaders from the area had personally complained to the chief minister about lack of support from some party leaders to Nikhil Kumaraswamy.
However, no one including the intelligence department, have been able to correctly gauge the mood of the young voters and the women. Many have been openly claiming to have supported Sumalatha. However, possibility of the calculations going wayward at the last minute cannot be totally ruled out.
