Mysuru, May 10: A 23-year-old woman was reportedly gang-raped by three persons at Lingambudi Palya in the outskirts of the city at around 10.30 pm on Wednesday night.
The accused persons are yet to be identified.
As per details available, the woman was unmarried and she was with her married friend when the incident took place. It is said that the woman had developed a friendship with the man over Facebook and hence they had decided to meet each other on that night at the abandoned place in a private layout, in the area.
The suspects, who were consuming liquor nearby came to the duo, attacked the man and later allegedly gang-raped the woman.
Inspector General of Police (Southern Range) Umesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police Amit Singh and others visited the spot.
The police have registered cases under IPC Section 376 and 379 and are investigating the case. The hunt is on to apprehend the culprits.
