Panaji, April 8: Hauzel Haukhum, a 1974 batch AGMUT Cadre IAS Officer, will take over as the chief secretary of the government of Goa on Wednesday April 8.

Hauzel brings with him rich experience of functioning as an administrative officer occupying various posts in Delhi and other states.

He was recently transferred from Mizoram to the government of NCT of Delhi. He was working as the financial commissioner of the government of Delhi, prior to his posting as the chief secretary of Goa.

In the past, he has held posts of the principal secretary, commissioner and secretary, in the government of Mizoram (1995 onwards) in various departments, such as finance, planning programme implementation, power and electricity, PWD, public health, engineering, rural development, health and family welfare, industries, food and civil supplies, urban development and poverty alleviation. In August 2005, he became the chief secretary of Mizoram and held this important post for four years.

During his illustrious career, Hauzel has handled several posts in Delhi administration which include the posts of the managing director of Civil Supplies Corporation, director of vigilance and the district magistrate (North Delhi). He was also the collector of Daman and the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Heveli.

Hauzel will arrive here on Wednesday afternoon from Delhi and thereafter will take charge as the chief secretary, government of Goa.
