Bengaluru, May 8: More information is coming to light about the man, who was carrying a suspicious object and escaped when cops tried to catch him at the Majestic Metro train station on the evening of Monday, May 6.
It is known now that the suspicious man had tried to lure a housekeeping woman by offering money before entering the metal detector gate.
The man had tried to get a bag inside the metro station without passing through the metal detector. So he tried to take the help of Metro personnel by offering money. However, when the housekeeping lady did not agree to his offer, he had taken some time to enter the Metro station. Now the police are more suspicious about the man in question and have interrogated the housekeeping lady.
As this information was available, IGP Nilamani Raju has instructed the city police commissioner to trace the suspicious person as soon as possible. It is said that police have collected vital information with regards to the suspected person but it is not confirmed that he is a terrorist.
Tense situation has been prevailing in the Metro station from the time the news of the person was known on the evening of Monday. People are thinking twice before entering the metro stations. The number passengers has reduced considerably at the Kempegowda metro station at Majestic and Chikka Lalbagh Gate metro station on Wednesday, May 8. Additional police security is provided at both the metro stations.
The CCTV footage and photos of the suspected man are relayed throughout the state. In addition to the intelligence departments of the state, the photo and footage is sent to the police of other states as well as the central intelligence agencies. Intense search operation is on for the missing man throughout the state by the police department including the police of the city, ISD and NIA.
It is also learnt now that the suspected man was not alone but had an accomplice with him. By his movements captured on CCTV footage it can be made out that he did not intend to travel by the train. This also has increase the pressure on the police now to nab him as soon as possible.
As a precautionary measure, the security of the metro stations is beefed up and passengers are being screened completely. The bags of the passengers are checked outside the metro stations itself.
